Past and present members of the armed services and public gather at the war memorials around the country to obverse Armistice Day. No wonder some age groups do not know what Armistice Day means Britian is not like many European country or even countrys from across the globe who lost young men and women in the two world wars and many conflicts. Armistice Day, is a public holiday nationwide communities hold ceremonies to pay respect to fallen soldiers why not our great nation.
As I made my way through the city center with coffee flask in hand a refill from one of the citys Weatherspoons pubs to Peterborough War Memorial which was my asignment for the day to capture photographs of rememberance.
It was nice to see the kindergarton pupils sitting on a rug placed on the floor young children holding a flag of rememberance waiting peacefully for the service to begin. Three pupils place hand-made wreaths at the foot of the memorial, sadly we are forgetting its the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month seams for many poppies had been forgotten since Sunday 8 November the day this year we as a nation paid our repects. So the big question is Why is this day and time not a public holiday 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month.
